Judgment System

This page introduces the basic note types used by Milthm and points to the formal judgment references.

For timing windows, judgment mapping, judgment sequences, and Lightning statistics, see Judgment Definitions.

Note Types

Milthm uses the following basic note types.

ImageNameJudgment Method
Dew NoteDew NoteHit when the note overlaps with the judgment circle.
Drizzle NoteDrizzle NoteHold while the Drizzle overlaps with the judgment circle, then release when the Drizzle ends.
Raindash NoteRaindash NoteCatch when the note reaches the judgment circle.
Lightning NoteLightning (Fracture) NoteProduces Lightning Exact or Lightning Miss, uses Lightning HP, and is tracked separately from the ordinary judgment sequence.

TIP

Drizzle Notes are not equivalent to Hold notes in other rhythm games. Their interaction rule is based on retained screen contact, not a traditional lane-bound hold.

Judgment Categories

Milthm separates note judgments into ordinary judgments and Lightning judgments.

Dew, Drizzle, and Raindash Notes are ordinary notes. Their results form the ordinary judgment sequence Ξ\Xi and are used by ScoreV3, AccV2, ordinary combo, All Perfect, and All Combo conditions.

Lightning Notes use the separate Lightning judgment sequence Φ\Phi. They do not enter Ξ\Xi and do not count toward the ordinary judgment count NN, but Lightning Miss overflow can affect the ScoreV3 combo score state.

Water Reflection

Drizzle Notes use the Water Reflection mechanism.

  1. When a Drizzle Note is hit, its judgment range expands to the full screen. Moving the finger during this period does not cause a Miss.
  2. While any Drizzle Note overlaps with the judgment circle, at least one finger must remain pressed on the screen.
  3. When no Drizzle Note overlaps with the judgment circle, all fingers should be lifted. Continuing to hold does not cause a penalty, but it no longer produces judgments or score.

So, as long as there are Drizzle Notes in contact with the judgment area, there must be a finger on the screen.

I see, so there are no traditional Hold Notes in *Milthm*. Drizzle is just a prompt to remind you to keep at least one finger on the screen.

For full rules and operation examples, see Water Reflection.

Simultaneous Judgment Order

When a Lightning Note and other notes are judged at the same time, the Lightning Note is judged last.

If a Drizzle Note is already active, judging the Lightning Note does not break the active Drizzle.

Lightning Miss can consume Lightning HP and may reduce the ScoreV3 combo score state if its damage overflows. This does not affect All Perfect or All Combo conditions.
